Custom Templates are the perfect starting point when building a campaign in Flexitive and allow you to quickly build animated omnichannel designs for content elements, display ads, digital signage, social posts, and more. Custom Templates are also a great option for Global Brand or Agency teams who are creating designs for recurring campaigns, or that operate in multiple regions/markets.
Custom Templates are available under Enterprise subscriptions. Reach out to your account manager or support@flexitive.com for more details.
Whenever you start a new project in Flexitive, your Custom Templates will be available in the Template Selection Screen.
Setting Up Custom Design Templates
To add a Custom Template to your instance, click the More button on the design and select ‘Convert to Template’.
The template will be sent to Flexitive support who will check the design is suitable to be used as a Custom Template and give any suggestions for how the template could be improved.
Once confirmed, the Custom template will be added to the instance within 1 working day.
Best Practices When Building Custom Templates
When building a design to be used as a Custom Template, we recommend implementing the best practices listed below.

Active Sizes
We recommend activating any fixed sizes that you think your design will be displayed at. You can include sizes for all channels including display, social, digital signage, and email content. This will allow teams to use the same template for all channels.
Some example sizes include 300x250, 300x50, 728x90, 160x600, 300x600, 1080x1920, 1920x1080.
Layer Order
Once you have all of your elements set on your first activated size, the layer order should be updated to match the order of content on the design. Updating your layer order with the ‘Show Hidden Layers’ toggle ON will ensure you have every element accounted for if you’re using element visibility between sizes in your design. Then when you go to activate each of your required sizes, the layer order will be consistent across all designs.
Layer Naming
Layer naming can help to guide how the content should be displayed in the design without using placeholder text. For example, you can include the suggested character count for headlines or subtext in the layer naming.

Auto Resizing Text & Anchoring Elements
When building a design that will be converted into a Custom Template, it is important to consider using auto-resizing text boxes and anchored elements. Using these two features together will allow your elements to adapt as you edit your design or create new sizes. This is especially useful when creating automated design or language variations from a data feed since the length of the text will change depending on the language.

Folder Organization
After you've built your Custom Design Template, you will want to store the design in a folder in your library so it's easy to find later. We recommend the following:
Add a folder to your Library called Custom Design Templates.
Move all the designs you would like converted into Custom Templates to the Master Templates sub-folder.
The title of your design will be displayed as the design name on the Template Selection Screen.
Use the description field to document anything unique/specific about the design
Removing Old Custom Design Templates
If you want to remove Custom Templates from your Template selection screen, drag the design(s) into the ‘Archived’ Folder and send the Design IDs to support@flexitive.com. You will be notified once this process is complete.
You can always access an archived design by changing the Workflow Status filter to Archived.
Templates and Editor Lite
Whenever you start a new project, you will automatically be taken to the Template Selection Screen. In the template selection screen, you'll be able to choose from using Flexitive pre-built templates, or your own Custom Templates to start building your design.
Once you choose a template to work with, you will be taken into Flexitive Editor Lite. In Editor Lite, you’ll be able to label your design, swap out assets, and update the text.
