Once you have built your Master Design Template and created a Data Feed, you will need to connect the elements of your master design to the Data Feed you created. Connecting an element in your design to a data feed will change the element into a Dynamic Design Element.

Prior to linking your Master design to the data feed, you will need to make sure the feed you created has been uploaded to Flexitive. For more information on how to do this, check out our article on Uploading a Datafeed.

In a given design, you can link one feed to the design for use in Automated Variation Creation. Dynamic Design Elements can either be created as Image Elements, Text Elements, or as Global Asset Elements.

Creating Dynamic Design Images

To convert an image on your Master Design template to a Dynamic Design Image, select the element you'd like to convert to a dynamic image element and open the Image Settings panel on the left-hand side of the editor. At the bottom of the Image Settings panel, switch the 'Dynamic Design Image' toggle to ON.

After turning 'Dynamic Design Image' on, you'll have access to the 'Feed' and 'Column' dropdowns. If you still need to set a feed for the design, you must first select a 'Feed' for the design.

After setting the feed, choose the 'Column' of the design. After choosing the Column, the element will update with the image you've selected.

Creating Dynamic Design Text

To convert a text element on your Master Design template to Dynamic Design Text, select the text box you'd like to convert to a dynamic text element and open the Text Settings panel on the left-hand side of the editor. Scroll to the bottom of the panel, and switch the 'Dynamic Design Text' toggle to ON.

After turning 'Dynamic Design Text' on, you'll have access to the 'Feed' and 'Column' dropdowns. If you still need to set a feed for the design, you must first select a 'Feed' for the design.

After setting the feed, choose the 'Column' of the design. After choosing the Column, the element will update with the text you've selected.

If you would like to change your text back to a standard text element, you can do so by toggling 'Dynamic Design Text' off. This option is located in the Dynamic Text settings panel and is useful if you want to edit the text copy in an automated variation.

Creating Dynamic Design Assets

To convert a Global Asset on your Master Design template to a Dynamic Design Asset, select the Global Asset element you'd like to convert and open the Global Asset Settings panel on the left-hand side of the editor. Scroll to the bottom of the panel, and switch the 'Dynamic Design Asset' toggle to ON.

After turning 'Dynamic Design Asset' on, you'll have access to the 'Feed' and 'Column' dropdowns. If you still need to set a feed for the design, you must first select a 'Feed' for the design.

After setting the feed, choose the 'Column' of the design. After choosing the Column, the element will update with the Global Asset you've selected.

If you would like to change your element back to a standard Global Asset element, you can do so by toggling 'Dynamic Design Asset' off.
